Things Couples Should Know About Before Hiring Wedding Photographer

There cannot be any doubt that when it comes to your wedding day, hiring a wedding photographer is a big deal. There are a wide range of styles, prices, and packages that are on offer.  However, it is important to be clear about a few things right from the start, hopefully this way you will have a wonderful wedding photo shoot.

It is for this reason, we went around to speak with some wedding photographers in Edinburgh who recalled some of the kind of awkward encounters they had with brides and grooms on different front. Here are some interesting details:

* A popular wedding photography expert from Edinburgh shared some instances where they were booked by a couple without the opportunity to meet them first. It turned out that the wedding day schedule had not allocated enough time for the photographer to produce the kind of images the couple had seen in his portfolio.   The couple were really nervous having their photos taken and were not relaxed. Usually the photographer would meet the Bride and Groom a couple of times before the wedding often incorporating a pre-wedding shoot to ensure the couple are relaxed in front to the camera. They suggest couples to go for a pre-wedding shoot or engagement shoots to get an idea what it will be like to work with the photographer. It might cost you a little extra but will save you from lots of stress and disappointment later on.

* Another important thing that a wedding photography assistant from Scotland told us was that couples must enjoy the photo shoot. If you are stressed or tense while being photographed, it will be reflected in the pictures. If you have the time, get to know your photographer as well as you can, you will spend a lot of time with them on the day and you must learn to trust them to do a good job. If you have that trust then it will be easier to relax and enjoy the shoot.

* As a couple, you must tell your photographer what kind of images you like, it may be a good idea to put together ‘scrapbook’ of images that you have seen on the internet so that the photographer sees the style that you like. It is entirely possible to mix and match a number of styles during the day, dramatic images of the two of you mixed with reportage at the reception for example. A good photographer will be able to adapt to this, however, if you don’t tell what you like then it is likely they will take the kind of images ‘they’ like, which may not match your taste. Go through their portfolio and discuss with them what you like and dislike about the images.
